I purchased a new Cub 7265 in August 2002. Great Machine! I did notice when I bought the machine that the turf and field tires had side wall cracks and cracking between the tread, I should have questioned this, but in the exitement of buying, forgot to bring it to the attention of the dealer. The tires are functioning ok-- no leaks, but should this be? I haven't brought it to the attention of the dealer yet. I'm looking for input of other owners before the dealer tells me his side of the story.

I have some cracking on turfs as you describe. It was there on my on my mid-80's Ford when I bought it some years ago and has stayed about the same.

The tires probably are original equipment and most of the damage is from weather. The tractor now stays mostly indoors. I don't think my tires are likely to fail due to the cracking. I figure I'll just use up some more tread before I think about new tires. I think there are some sprays that are supposed to preserve tires but I have no experience with them. I think that moderate weather checking isn't a big issue but I don't let the tractor bake in the sun.

All to often we see this and now while the tractor is still that new would be the time to get it fixed. They may go 20 years with them that way and they may only go 5 years before it goes thru. You should contact your dealer who might tell you to contact the dealer for those make tires in your area to get the changed. ....
